i wont spare you the corny "once upon a time" opening line, but this is a story about how a firefly lit up the darkness within a young cats icy heart

It was a wintery afternoon, a young man was out in the town doing what he usually did, mystifying a crowd of people with something he was both good at and enjoyed

Fire-eating, an unusual but marvelous talent, he loved seeing the shocked looks on people faces when he shaped and moved along with the flames, like they were dance partners, his movements were smooth and graceful, which matched the flames that danced with him, the crowd around him stared in awe
it was then he noticed something rather unusual in the crowd before him,
There were two girls standing at the front of the crowd, at first he thought he was seeing double but realized he wasn't that far off. They were identical twins. But although they looked exactly alike, they each held a different expression, one of amazement and the other a look of caution as she watched over both the flames and her sister, he guessed out of protection for her sibling. Dismissing the flames he began to walk over to them then jumped back abit when a sword was pointed at him, it was the icy haired twin. Her sister quickly told her to lower her weapon and gave him an apologizing glance. Her sibling merely looked at her in confusion then nodded her head at him and began tugging at her sleeve and pointing somewhere. The kinder twin smiled at her then waved goodbye as they walked away, the colder twin glanced back at him then quickly looked away when he waved back.
the next few days were no different, every performance he did he would often catch the girls hiding in the crowd. There was something unusual about these girls, they seemed very confused and curious about the area around them, but perhaps they were like him? ever wondering the world and discovering new things. Each performance he gave the cautious twin never onced gave a look of amazement, her lips never bent down ever to show even the tiniest smile. He only recieved an icy shot from her. It was not until a week later that he witnessed something absolutely amazing. The snow fell hard one night and in the morning no one was out in the square. He looked around as his shoulder slumped in disappointment, when he turned to look for a new place something caught his eye. Something moved behind the big fountain that acted as a monument in the square. He took a few steps backwards to get a better angle and saw a girl standing where he usually performed. She looked around with a disappointed expression 'she must not see me from this angle' he thought as he watched her sit down on the edge of the fountain-wait.. Looking closely at her face he found it to the colder twin. Smiling he carefully made his way over as not to scare-"you're late" he heard as she turned to look at him. "I'm sorry" he said as she turned away "don't let it happen again, now get to work before I throw you in the snow" he couldn't help but laugh "as you wish"

(uuuuugh I'm gonna fail at explaining thiiiiis, Angel Berry does it WAAAY better...)
holding his palm under his chin he very lightly blew as sparks glided out before bursting into many streams of fire, he guided his hand along them, his fingers gliding through like they were silk, soon a flower formed, followed by another. just as he shaped the thried they exploded into many tiny fireworks before finally shaping a rose.

And for the first time since seeing her all those days ago..

She smiled.
